Frequently Asked Questions

What are NSE holidays for mutual funds in 2026?

NSE holidays are days when the stock exchange is closed and no mutual fund transactions are processed. In 2026, there are 16 trading holidays. Your SIPs, purchases, and redemptions placed on these days will be processed on the next available business day, using that day's NAV.

What happens to my SIP if it falls on an NSE holiday?

Your SIP instalment doesn't disappear — it simply executes on the next business day. The units are allotted at that day's NAV, not the holiday NAV. This is standard practice across all AMCs. No action needed from your side.

Do mutual fund NAVs get updated on NSE holidays?

No. NAV is calculated only on business days when markets are open. On a holiday, the previous business day's NAV remains in effect. Transactions submitted on a holiday are processed at the next business day's NAV.

What is Muhurat Trading?

Muhurat Trading is a special one-hour trading session held on Diwali evening, considered auspicious for investing. It is conducted on NSE and BSE even though the day is officially a trading holiday. Mutual fund transactions, however, are generally not processed during this session.

Does the holiday list apply to all mutual funds — equity, debt, and hybrid?

The NSE holiday list applies to equity and hybrid funds. Debt funds have a separate set of clearing holidays tied to the RBI and banking system calendar. If you are managing debt fund transactions, check the Clearing Holidays tab on the NSE/AMFI website as well.

When is this page updated?

We update this page every year once SEBI/NSE publishes the official holiday calendar, typically by November–December of the preceding year. Bookmark bayfol.io/nse-holidays — the URL stays the same, only the content changes.
