Digilocker - India's KYC Gold Standard
India is moving into the new century, with Aadhar & UPI. Another part of this evolution is DigiLocker - a wallet (drive) by the Government of India to store all your essential and important records digitally & securely.
You can access these documents stored, anytime, anywhere - reducing paperwork and time.
Going forward, DigiLocker, will be the gold standard for KYC approval, reducing the time to do KYC from days to less than 5 minutes. This is thanks to the Single SignOn Service [MeriPehchaan].
For this reason, we want to ensure all our clients are setup on DigiLocker, making the KYC process – easier & faster.
The most important two documents to have setup on your DigiLocker are:
- Aadhar
- PAN
To complete DigiLocker's setup, you should also have on hand:
☐ Mobile (preferably a post paid plan, so you won't forget to recharge)
☐ Email
DigiLocker & Aadhar use the OTP (One Time Password) verification system, so it is best to have the above active.
Here are some important notes (to save headaches):
- Make sure your Aadhar and PAN both have the same exact name. IT Systems are checking both, so please double check for:
- no spelling mistakes; and
- no abbreviations or initials.
- Make sure your Aadhar have both the mobile and email updated. You can ONLY update the mobile and email at your nearest Aadhar centre, you cannot do it online. It will cost you ₹50 per update, so please get that done before starting anything.
- Remember to add Nominee details in your DigiLocker as well, this may be useful in the future.
- If your DigiLocker is ready, you should see a green [verified] label under your profile photo.
- As part of your financial house keeping, also ensure your Passport & Bank account have the same name displayed as in your PAN & Aadhar. Consistency across documents, will save you headaches in the future.
